Hi Can anyone explain to me how to vent to determine sex or point in the right directed with some links/sites? Also at what point can they be vented? (ie sexual mature vs juvies vs fry etc) thanks

I don't think you can vent fish until they are at or near sexual maturity. With good captive nutrition, cichlids become sexually mature as small as one-third the adult size. It's much easier if you can pick out fish from the same batch to compare the vent size of different gender than to look at one fish in isolation.
