I am so excited today because I just won a 150 gallon tank on ebay, the only setback is it is not long more tall really (dimensions being 38x24x38) I know that im going to put my male RD in there but what other monster fish do you guys think would go well in a tank of those dimensions?
And where is a good place to get a huge piece of bogwood or a something to put in this tank? Cant wait to hear your replies.

i think your devil would be alright, but with that tank i hope you've got one heck of a filter! being so deep but not so wide, that tank is not going to want to turn the water that easily. what filter are you planning on using?

Deep tank like that makes me think of angel fish...

It's going to be hard to put anything in there other than that RD.. That isnt alot of 'Footprint' for how territorial those guys are.

Only thing I could think of is a huge pike cichlid, with a hiding spot for him.

Leave a foot of air space and put in a nice twisty piece of barkfree branch, add some marine salt, and a deep bed ugf with power heads, and then get youself an archerfish and a couple sculpins and maybe a violet goby. Not real monsterous I know but you can put crickets on the branches and watch them get shot down.
I like that shape tank for mixed shoals of small bright tetras, in a darkened room they look amazing.
An American eel or large rope fish would do nicely as well and could be kept with the RD.
You might consider one of those little desk fountain pumps concealed in a pile of rocks siliconed together for the bottom of the tank if you fill it completely to get a nice upwelling current going, they are very cheap.

Ive never seen a tank that size with those Dimensions. Im sure your RD will be happy in it. as for tankmates an everything, Id steer away from Aro's (as the tank is on the high side as to the longside).

The dimensions are 38"x24"x38". I like the archerfish idea, definitely keep it in mind. As for filter initially i am going to use 1 tetra-tec pf500 and one pf300 I will look into others as i get it setup
