I was going to buy a 125gallon tank and get two cobra pike, and one senegal bichir.... But now Im obsessed with arowanas. I only have 900 dollars to spend on a tank setup so all I can really afford is a 125 gallon tank.

Although, I was thinking if I bought a large rubbermaid stock tub I could house a silver aro in it. Most of the stock tubs I see are about 300 gallons and up. The 300 galls are about 150 bucks and way much cheaper then a 200+ gallon glass/acrylic tank set up.

I was thinking I could add a viewing window to the tank so I wouldnt always be staring down from the top.

I dont know how I would really set it up though...

I was also considering buying a 180 gallon and getting jardini or Leichardti, leaning towards Leichardti because they're better looking.

I know its not best to talk in terms of gallons but better to talk in terms of dimensions.

I just want an arowana so bad!

you can propably get a lot more than 150g with 900$ you just have to look around. i got a 100g for 350$ on craigslist.

alright, another aro owner in the making! :) ...i dont know how much Leichardti's cost where your at but, down here in Hawaii they go for as much as blacks $250-$300! just a heads up..so if you really only got a $900 budget that would leave you with only $600 for a tank and filter.... well good luck with what ever route you decide...

oh and JAR'S look way better than Lei's!!! :naughty:

I have always had a soft spot for Aros. I just love them!

My craigslist sucks ass. I hate people who sell tanks in my area. I went on today and found a 45 gallon bowfront for 300 dollars... AND IT HAD A CRACK IN IT!

Well, I have more then 900... I have 1400 but I cant spend all of it. I told my dad I would save some of it in my savings account to buy some mode of transportation later on.

The reason I became even more obsessed witrh jars is because my favorite of my two LFS has babies! I kept coming back to there tank just to stare at them. They were eating baby tetras! I like everything about aros, how they swim, how they look, how they eat. I was telling my mom about how much I want one and she said "They didnt look so special to me" I was just wondering, How can you not like arowanas? Its just not possible.

But anyways... My LFS told me that I'd be up in the 900 dollars range for a 125 with pro lights that light the whole tank, and a glass top. The tank itself costs 600 dollars.

Thats why I brought up the pond, then I could keep silvers or blacks but I think a 180 in my room would be cooler so that I could see the aro from all angles.

The jardini locally cost about 59.79...

I wish there was someone on MFK that had a 180 or larger for my price range!

I have looked in the Buy/Sell and no luck in my area.

there is a huge problem here that you need to rethink

are you going to get a tank that allows you to see the fish from all side at the cost of the fishes swimming space? or are you going to make do without seeing your fish from every angle and give it suffient swimming space that most people cant provide?.

just something to think about...

This is going in my upstairs bedroom mind you. We do have a spair room, but a 36'' wide tank cant even fit through the door. Even my front door isnt that wide... So I'd have no way of getting it into my house. I'd have to go with a 180. I HAVE TO get a Jardini. Its the only tank size I can fit in my house.

To even fit the 180 through the bedroom door Im going to have to tip it onto its side probably...

When we move from this house though, wich could be this summer or two years from now, I will be putting one of those tanks in my house!

That 336 gallon tank will be in my next house for sure!

But now, I must keep a 180.

Also, I was just thinking I could tip the 336 on its side, but I still have no Idea if it would fit. I want it so bad. I dont even know if my floors could hold it. I dbout they could. So it would be better to wait until I move from this current house and into another that has better flooring. The only reason we are in this house is because we had to move quick and ended up with a sh*** house.

Because of this house, I have to get a 180!

AS Fish god as my witness I will get one of those AES tanks in my next house! This biggest one! And I'll keep A group of aro's in it!
