Went walking through the woods in my backyard on the weekend. Not much wildlife out yet, was able to see a baby mole and a couple of small fish that were too fast for the camera. Was able to get a not so good and an alright pic of a crawfish though and what I believe to be river/creekbed covered in eggs.

Once the colors start coming in I'll get some updated pics.

Thanks scott. Can't wait till the big guys start swimming through. Few years ago we had some nice sized 12-14" trouts or something swimming through. Usually quite a few frogs as well and a couple times a summer I come across some nice sized garter snakes, had one living in my shed last year.

Beautiful pictures of spring in the making... love the wide open spaces, you have really beautiful areas of nature to walk.. you must be in the country too.. i love the crawfish.. he was huge... i wonder how big he actually was.. what a neat guy to come upon..the water was nice enough to see then adding him is a real treat..Liz:D

nice pics man..

Thanks :)

Liz the crawfish was probably about 7 inches or so and about and inch or 2 wide @ the abdomen. Really hoping the frogs come out soon to get some pics.

I never knew they got that big.. i love frogs..my favorite of the wild things around the farm.. i save them all the time by taking the land frogs out of our gold fish pond with a net.. and i save the swimmers by taking them out with a net before my husbands sees them messing with the fish  only kidding.. they never bother them.. but hubby always thinks they will:ROFL:

heres my little gold fish pond where i watch my frogs..frogs are neat!!

Sweet. I've always wanted a pond but without a fenced in yard there's too many kids around to mess with it. Unless of course I start a piranha pond :D There's also a lot of stray cats around this area and wouldn't want them messing with the fish.

The goldfish don't catch the frogs/swimmers before you? my goldfish will put anything in it's mouth as soon as it hits the water.

There's a lot of toads in the area too, toads around the house and frogs by the river/creek. There's also a conservation area near here that is just loaded with crawfish, leopard frogs and turtles. Used to go all the time as a kid but haven't been there in about 10 years, maybe this summer I'll go and see what I can find. Even found a cornsnake roaming around there once.

here is my pond now..looking bleak....it is stripped cleaned and dug around it.. we will put soil back and then i go to work landscaping it ... the water is getting cycled and we will put the lily pots in tommorrow and put the waterfall in and pumps and then in a couple of days the fish..:D Oh And no my gold fish do not mess with the frogs.. i think the swimmers come completly grown here:D
