Did water changes today, seemed kinda weird cause this is the first time my water evaporated so fast causing one of my fluvals that has the intake located below the surface to stop running.

Took my canopy off, and notice that my center brace on the 55 came apart. So there is no longer a brace holding the center walls of the 55 togeather.

Causing the front and rear glass to be REALLY weak, and when i tap you can see the glass bounce around.

Freaks me out cause i dont want 55gal of water on the floor, and all my fish to die...

Im thinking about going out buying another 55gal, this time the brace will be built in with the plastic frame. Unlike the old school sillicone a thick pice of glass inplace.

And i was wondering...am i doomed? Do i even need that piece? Will i be seeing a sudden crash and 55gal of water and fish on my floor?

Thanks

is it a galss brace?? If so I would drain the tank down to where it comes back together and reseal it after cleaning the piece of... But that is just me...

Or you can go find a 55 for pretty cheap... we have 50 g tanks in our lfs around here going for 69.99 :)

Yeah, im going to just buy a brand new 55gal with the newer plastic braces.

Start my tank all over agen...

Thank god my friend has a spare 125gal to put all these fish in =].

Will have pics of the major move tomarrow....

How long til you can get the tank? Just put them in a rubbermade break the old tank down replace all the stuff/old water in new tank and stock it up.

might be a full week till i get time off to get a new tank, and another week to set everything back up. I still need to paint the back of the tank black.

Oh. Well thank goodness for buddies with spare monster tanks! Wish I had one.

you could drain the tank down...put a bar clamp across the top with wooden pads and refill for a temp solution.

dont crank the clamp down on a full tank :( :(

wow, nice tank by the way! ... tough break on the tank though.. =) good luck mate! what's the sub you've got in there?
