i am thinking about joining my two 55gal(length,height & width are all the same) which is 2ft1/2 which would become a 5ft 110gal tank .
any info which can help my in this?

30" cubes (length, height & width are all the same, which is 2ft1/2)?

That equals 116g each.

Are these glass or acrylic?

Glass thickness may be very marginal, I wouldn't use it for MONSTERS.

It can be done with internal bracing but it wouldn't look that great and would be more bother than it's worth.

If you have a special need for this go for it.

What do you mean by that?

Not to derail plausibles thread but...

Remove one side from each tank and bond the two tanks together, then install a couple of .5" x 4" braces from one new seam to the other and clamp for 72 hrs.

Oh ok I get it Dr. Joe. Thanks!

take off the plastic framing... use the inner long sides of the tank to make each side...and I would recommend getting a custom cut glass or highly treated plywood bottom. Could cost as little as $40 to do.

I have joined tanks numerous times. No real dramas if you dont mind the vertical join line. On 10mm thick glass up to 60cm high/deep, you dont even need a brace but if you have tankbusters or the tank is not in your fishroom (ie expensive if it leaks) then I would add a small brace. I have joined up to three - 8 foot x 2 foot x 2 foot tanks ... just to get a 24 foot tank and even joined some at right angles to make long or L shaped corner tanks.

Have enclosed a photo of 2 tanks joined, (both 6x2x2 foot) because this apartment is on the 7th floor and 6 foot was the largest size I could fit in the elevator. Joining tanks is much cheaper although if you do have a long glass tank (over 10 foot) I would recommend a split (2 piece) bottom to allow flexibility.
