I've read a lot saying that it cant be, but it can with some work.

We'll use my Oscar Rusty as an example. Like a lot of people, I got an oscar and a 10g for my first fish setup. Needless to say he had a crappy life for a while. A couple of times he was almost dead, and he developed pretty severe HITH. The picture with the HITH was after it had already started to heal. I just wanted to show what a good varied diet (with no goldfish), adequate filtration, and very very clean water will do. Here is my before and after pictures.

Amazing story. That fish has been through a lot, and still looks great.

Thats 2 different sides to the fish! Not to mention the second has been touched up. Rally you're a cheat!
He looks remarkably healthier in the second picture. :D

Fine...straight out of the camera on this one. I had to sharpen the other pic because it was taken with a P&S. go ahead and pick this apart and ruin my story:p

Agreed. Im still amazed at what pristine, nitrate free water can do to heal or help improve hith or hith-like symptoms. Great oscar !

Looks amazing. Maybe there is hope for some of those poor fish out there.

lol. Thats still the same side, but you flipped the picture round? lol just teasing mate. Seems to be enjoying his swimming space, and looks better for it. Did you not try any meds/salt or anything at all rally, or just literally looking after like i guess everyone should do. Nice looking fish, do they all go that nice bronzy golden colour?

I didnt try any meds, salt, voodoo, or anything else. Just proper care:)
Mine seems to have a unique color, but I think it's mostly due to diet.

I think diet plays a major factor too.
