OK. Tell me what you all think. I am on my third pump now, and I don't know if I even have a problem. I got the first one, and put it in the bathtub to test it before plumbing it into the sump. It was loud. About as loud as a pool pump. I returned it, and the second one was just as loud. I figured that I was just a moron, it is supposed to be that loud, so I went with it. After listening to the p.o.s. for a few months, I talked to a few people here. They said that this pump is supposed to be quiet, you shouldn't even hear it if you put your ear up to the sump. So I called the manufacturer. They told me that this pump has a ceramic shaft that can be broken during shipping if it isn't handled properly. I figured "that must be it". I ordered a third one. It came in today, and I set it up in the bathtub. It sounds like a pool pump. I took the new one apart, and the shaft was in tact. Everything seemed fine. I am going crazy with this thing. Is it supposed to be this noisy? Is there anything that is quieter?

Do you have the rubber feet on it? The plastic housing on any hard surface will be loud (with any pump). Ar you sure there is no air getting into the intake?

I have 3 quiet one pumps and I can't hear any of them over my Little Giant (which isn't even loud)

I think it was you that I talked to, about a month ago, about this. I appreciate all your help.

It (none of them) came with rubber feet. When I set the one in the bathtub today, I held it suspended in the water so it wasn't touching anything. It was still loud. The one in the sump is sitting on two layers of the blue and white filter sheets as a vibration dampener. I am very sure that there isnt any air getting into it. Actually, when I had the one in the tub, I lifted it out of the water for a brief moment, and it was much quieter without any water. as soon as there was a load, though, it was noisy.

Wow! That really surprises me. I'm not sure what to think at this point. What kind of noise does it make?

The fact that the pump sounds loud to you in the tub tells me that it has nothing to do your sump or how you have it plumbed. Normally pumps run a lot quieter IN the water than they do out of it without a load. If I had to guess I'd say that the shaft is viberating under load from a bad bearing or bushing. Either that or it's drawing in air and the impeller is cavatating. You might want to concider a differant brand at this point.

The rubber feet come in a small bag(the smaller models anyway),maybe look to see if they are in the box.

We sell those, never had a complaint. But my customers aren't to bright. Maybe they think that noise is soothing.

It sounds just like a swimming pool pump. I have it in my stand. The stand is insulated and dynomated, and I can still hear the pump from every room in my apt.

That makes perfect sense, but 3 bad ones in a row (all the same)??!! I would love to try another brand, butI can't find anything with the flow vs. wattage use of this one. Foster and Smith says all sorts of stuff about how quiet this one is...I can't imagine what one of their other ones sound like.:WHOA:
