Hey what;s up guys' some of you may remember i was asking about how to fix my 240 a while ago well today i got the glass from glass cages in the mail and i just siliconed it in a little while ago i have enclose a diagram to show what i did to fix it and a bunch of pics. First of i flipped it over and built a base around the bottom of it out of wood and fiberglass board so it will not get broke agian i'm sure of that. I used 3/4 inch oak plywood as board so when i get my stand built the wood will match and put a medium stain on it. I used a 2 inch thick piece of fiber glass board on the bottom then put a 8'2 by 3/4 inch peice of oak ply on top of that then 2 8"4inch strips down the front and back and two 25 1/2 sheets down the two sides screwed it together flipped it over and stained it now the bottom is brake safe this time. Then i cut out all of the old silicone with a razor blade and then removed the residue with alchol and a brand new dish scrubby sponge type with the to differnt sides. Then today i got the glass finally i actually got the glass for free from glass cages sence that's were the tank came from i only paid 35 bucks for shipping which was great sence i couldn't find any that thick around here any were. I got three pieces tottal one is 16x16 square 1/2 inch thick , 1 14 1/2 long 2 inches wide 3/8 thick 1 13 inches long 2 inches wide 3/8 inch thick i put the two long thing ones down in to make a square lined up with the other brace pieces to be flush. And then siliconed the 16x16 on top of them to make a new bottom section to cover the cracks by about 14 inches. I enclose a diagram that will explain much better how they were placed in the tank. And i have enclose a bunch of pics of the finished product including the base i built for it and the fiberglass sheet board and were the new square bottom inside is located. I left the silicone all lumpy and doesn't look pretty really but i don't give a damn as long as it is fixed but the wood base goes up almost a inch form the bottom so that all will be consealed when it has sand or gravel in the tank. SO it doesn't really matter any ways figured i would share what i did and how i did it. Wish me luck for it working out and maybe say a prare lol. enjoy

I'm really shocked that not a single person had any thing to say about this that looked at it come on guy's 60 people viewed and nothing to say

Looks like a crazy fix! let us know how it works out.

You made a statement, not a question or asking for responses. 60+ people did read it tho.

Withholding comment till I see water in it :D. (I have fixed several tanks this way).

Believe me i wasn't trying to be rude or anything by saying what i said was just shocked that no one had anything to say about it that'ts all. I thought for sure people would have said that this way was a bad idea or somthing along those lines because when i was asking for advice on here only one person adviced i do it this way every one else said absolutely with out a dought take the hole bottom off and replace it. Some said cut the piece of some said drill the cracks and the won't go any where but only one said any thing like the way that i did it at all. The only difference between the way i did it and the way he suggested was. He said cut the braces out and lay the square piece right on top of the bottom sheet. Well i tried that and i couldn't get the braces out of the tank. I first was going to take the bottom of and go and bring it and get it cut but one small problem i couldn't get the bottom of either. So in the end i did it this way. remember to click on the diagram i mad with paint to see how it was actually done at the borrom actually the last picture but you have to click it to see it. I'm building my stand here in a few day's i have a broke leg ankle and foot so kinda hard to get around and i just moved were i live so not really any freinds. but any ways wasn't mad no one posted a responce was just waiting for people to tell me that i did it the wrong way. And i will post pics of filling it up as soon as i can find 4 people willing to help me bring it from my basement to out side. enjoy and thanks again.

WOO HOOO!!!!, nice to see it done, pm'd you, i'll be back in a bit to check it out and actuly read your post from work...

good job, let it sit like this for about a week though....

Like they say sometimes 'No news is Good news' :D.

Bummer on the leg, fall of your horse while playing polo?

Pizza and beer make temporary friends :D (just give the beer out after the move!).

Get some of those cheap (dollar store) cotton gloves that have the no slip stuff painted on the palms for everybody as a safety item.

Good luck with the move, I'll keep my fingers cross during the fill-up :D.
