In the past couple of days my Black aro (~17") has started "gasping". He swims around normally and acts ok, but he opens his mouth slowly. The tank has a wet/dry filter so I don't think it's oxygen related. Everything tests out well, and the temp is 82. His color has also started to get a little pale and his fins are not out and flowing like they used to. Thoughts?

You test water yet? I can't imagine that is the problem with your system though.

Maybe add an airstone to start with to be on the safe side?

and a small W/C

Yes, tested it yesterday, but I'll test again. It read 0,0, ~15-20

I'll hook it to the powerhead to be safe, but I really don't think that will do anything. The water level is low in the wet/dry and I have a LOT of bio-media so it has to be getting good gas exchange.

It has a drip system installed.

Other fish stressing it out perhaps?

Is it eating normally?

I've watched it for a couple of hours at a time with the room lights off, and I can't see any signs of any fish messing with it. It seems to be eating fine.

What size tank is he in? is he out growing it?

He's in a 300

I might also add that he has tankmates that are more "sensitive" such as a 18" tig and 2 rays, all of which act just fine.
