Snake heads near my neck of the woods

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wish we have a place like that here in California..but it would have to be a private pond. If only my reds stayed alive, they'd be in my 5500gal above ground pool for the winter.

gets me mad reading this kind of stuff....media monster blown out of proportion!!!!!!!!!

quote,"We've got highly desirable species like largemouth bass," said Steve Early, assistant director of fisheries for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. "Snakeheads are going to compete for food with them."

In China and Hong Kong, where snakeheads normally live, for some strange reason, they do not take over the entire lake, still have other game fish available. How do they know that it will overtake the large mouth, plus, there are Amia calva, almost identical to snakeheads, recorded up to 50 pounds in the region too. PLus, Large mouth bass is found all over the country, I don't think wiping out or extinction is a remote possibilty in the near future, plus, Fish and Game can just produce more large mouth babies and stock them dam rivers and lakes, and we can have fisheries of both, we already stock all the lakes in the country! Who says snakeheads are not desireable, to my knowledge its a commercial viable food source in all southeast asian countries!!!

Freakin whitie tighties are the ones who built those dams in the northwest, and killed off all the, "sub-species" of salmons, and now they have to be articficially hatched and stocked, maybe we should rotenone those whitie tighty law makers, and paper pushers, since they've helped decrease the "highly desirable specie"

Media monster, guys watch out, the flu this year is going to wipe out 10 thousand people this year!!??? Freaking retards.... Wait....do you personally know anyone thats died of mad cow disease, how about SARS, compare that number to people to you know who've just died of a car acident or anything else for all that matters....

Ok, enough of me venting, its 100 degrees here and I should be posting this on CJ instead...haha....

hahahahahahah CJ! LOL! I hear ya Wes.

LMB has been introduced outside its natural range and has decimated other native species. I also agree with you on the snakeheads not eating off everything in the lakes and rivers in Asia. IMO, my support goes to the Snakeheads. I hope that they spread as far as they can. Fishermen will finally see that they do make a great game fish species. For all you know it could attract tourist to fish for them. The same way Peacock Bass has done for southern FL.
