if they do count me in for a couple

Looks good. You need to breed the young against each other, and you will get some more xanthics, then breed the xanthics against each other, and you should come out with 100% xanthic babies.

Those fries look good. But how soon do we know if they will turn out to be what we hope for?

this is when all the night owls(in cali at least) come out ha ha well great looking fish you got there

hope you next project yields xanthic jags

Those are definitely not xanthic.

They're all heterozygous for xanthism though (Aa). So, if you breed two of the offspring you should get 25% homozygous recessive (xanthic) and 75% normal looking (1/3 of those will be (Aa) and 2/3 of them will be (AA)). Or if you breed an offspring (Aa) with the xanthic adult (aa) you'll get 50% xanthic and 50% heterozygous.

You should be able to tell by .5" at most if they're xanthic fry. Probaby closer to .25" (1cm).

I like the parent fish, very cool. The fry don't look xanthic, but they are cool anyway.

Agree don't think the fry are xanthic yet.. But you certainly own one rare fish so you have that trademarked if you can make some full xanthic fry.

didnt your Xanthic male turn xanthic after a certain size??

Yeah, I'm not sure, but I think it was like 4" or something like that.
