under a bridge in fl
i put 3 mayan cichlids in my planted tank to get ate.
well no one wanted them.
i chased them with a net a bunch and gave up. :irked:
then i had an idea,down size the 2 liter bottle trap. :grinno:
i used a 12oz bottle,20oz would be better.
baited it with some flake food.
i made the hole to big tho "they kept going in and out"
but he was trapped when i netted out the bottle while he was in it. :)
i also have caught a few guppies also. :grinno:
2 more mayans to go. :)

so if you have a fish thats hard to catch,make a mini trap.

I tried the same thing to get some little Haitiensis out of obne of my heavily planted tanks, kind of got the idea from lobster traps ive seen. It worked OK but it took a lot of waiting, and some little pikes in with them were sort of taking it over, so I ended up using hook and line with a tiny barbless hook (I know it sounds cruel and cheezy, but it doesnt hurt the fish at all. It is cheezy though). Got all 5 out in less than 10 min.

haha I tried a safety pin and 1/8 tubing on a fish once, damn thing bounced right off his ass. ended up having to tear down about 200 lbs of rock to catch him. best of luck!
 
I trapped a fish once to remove him.

Clear plastic bags is what I used. WIth food in them......it worked.
 
best trap ever

make a 4"x4"x4" cube out of mesh or screen or summat
cut a 2"x2" hole in it
put a 3"x3" piece hinged on the inside of hte cube
fish push it open to get the bait and cant push it open from the inside
catch bait in it all the time
