Look up
I started my stand for my 100 gal acrylic tank today.
My space is limited so I will have to make atleast 2 more trips to Home Depot (right around the corner) for wood. Stand will be 44x22x30.Here is the begining pile more pics as I progress.

Well the battery on my cordless drill died so I figured here's a good opportunity for an update. After a mental redesign I decided to go with 2x4 for the frame and 2x6 for the vertical support. Each corner is made with 2-2x6x30 studs and the center vertical support is a 2x6x30 as well. When i add the 2x4's to the top I will add a 2x4 between the upper and lower frames. There will also be 2 horizontal beams on the inside running the length of the stand for added support to the top to prevent sagging. They will be supported by 2x4"s as well. All the wood is secured by 2-1/2"x9 composite deck screws.

Sorry about the orientation on the second pic.

Looks good so far! I built one for my 100 acrylic too. OOPS!!! went a little overboard!!! I could park my truck on that thing and it wouldn't break!! The store bought ones just look so cheesey.

End of day 1. My drill gave me so much trouble today I bought new 1. anyway while I should be done with the build I am almost there. Here are a cpl more pics.

looks pretty good but what happened to the corners?

LOL wondering the same. Why didn't you just butt joint the corners instead of angling. Is the top and bottom of the frame going to show on the final product. Also why did you go 2x6 on the up rights. 2x4s would of held up just fine. Actually more than fine. Looks good so far.

The corners were actually an experiment they wont show on the finished product. I went with the 2x6 instead of 2x4 because I wanted the extra strength. There will be no shelves I need more storage space and since the tank has a built in w/d this will be it.
