Midas is NOT to be confused with the Red Devil

I'm sure most of you know this, but I think this is an important reminder.

Amphilophus labiatus is the Red Devil, which is very aggressive.

Amphilophus citrinellus is the Midas. It is very similar to the Red Devil, but is significantly less aggressive.

One way you can tell them apart is by the lips; Red Devils have much larger lips.

Just wanted to point that out and remind everyone.

Lets have a game of posting red devils and midas and see if anyone can tell them apart.. i will go first.. please tell me whether this is a midas or red devil?? Check out these lips:grinno:

Actually midas can be just as aggressive. And pure RD don't get as large as Midas..;)
 
Beatiful rd you got there gudjon. And red devil your fish looks like a rd with the lips and pointier head but it also looks a little midas with the higher build so i have to say its a mix?
 
In aquaria the Midas and RD have a lot of cross breeding. Though pure strands maybe different scientifically the fish most of us would buy in a LFS would more than likely be a cross of both.
