I woke up the other day to find that my perch was blck on the back half of his body. no idea wat this is but only guess is bullhead had him in his mouth. he swims fine no problem at all. Ill try to get pics after school.

I had a similar thing happen to a baby red spot sunfish about 2 years ago, the fish was noticeably darker on the back half of its body.

here is a pict

the fish in question is the sunfish to the right, that is not a shadow, its body looked like that, I think it happened over night.
The fish never showed any signs of stress, or any other signs of sickness

I ended up putting the fish down, I believe that it had to have had some sort of parasite in its brain or nervous system.

there was nothing in the tank large enough to have 1/2" of that fish in its mouth.

I caught 5-6 baby red spots that were less than 1" long, I till have 1 he is getting big

Weird that this gets posted today.

Me and my husband were snorkelling yesterday and we saw a longear who the back half of his body was way darker than the front half, kind of a dark greyish brown, with no pattern, and we were wondering what would cause that.

On the way back to shore I saw a bluegill with one side of his face way darker grey than the rest of his body.

Interested to see if anyone knows what causes this.

heres pics, hope the come up(first time)?

There are a couple of diseases that can cause this, two types of untrearable tumor (one is thyroid), and also a flagellate gut infection that can be treated with metronidazole, this is pretty common in wild caught fish. You could try the antiparasite tank buddies made by jungle.
