I have a 4' 110 that I bought for $50 because it leaks. The seals are crap and need to be completely stripped out. I was going to do that and reseal the tank to just have the one 110, then an idea struck me.

I'm going to use the glass from the 110 to build plywood tanks (probably 5). I have not measured the glass thickness, but I think it's 1/2" so I'll go with that for now.

Here's the glass I'll have: (measurements are guestimates, I'll verify later)

(2) 48" x 30"
(2) 18" x 30"
(1) 48" x 18"

If you had this glass available to you, what tanks would you build?

I'm leaning towards 24" as the front to back dimension. Then basing the rest of each tank off of the glass that goes with it.

Maybe something like this*:

60"x34"x24" for the 48"x30" pieces = 212 gallons (6" braces on left & right)
42"x24"x24" for the 18"x30" pieces = 105 gallons (6" braces on left & right)
60"x24"x24" for the 48"x18" piece = 150 gallons (6" braces on left & right)

* may need to be revised for structural integrity

This would give me 5 plywood tanks with 784 gallons total instead of one all glass tank with 110 gallons.

Ok, so now you get to tear it apart and put it back together with your expertise. Thanks in advance for your input.

thoses three tanks you listed are they how many tanks you can make with wat you got or is choices you have.

this is what i would do but on a smaller scale
this is my design for my plywood tank using the glass from my 135 gal tank

108X34X36 = 572 gallons

i thnk you should make you should make one magea tank use those (2)48x30 sheets of glas as two viewing windows. then you could have around 100" x 30" x how ever wide you want becuase you are making it ply wood. lets say you make it 100"x24"x36" wide then it would be 374gallons or so. you will need a center bracing though

yea it would hold you only need 1/2 for up to hights of 36".

The glass thickness only constrains the height and length between supports. You could use it for 1,000,000 gallon tank if you keep it around 30" tall.
