My 3" salvini has been hiding for a couple days and came out last night for a little while. She seems bloated, like she ate a lot, but is looking a little pale and is hanging out near the top of my tank. Checking on her this morning I noticed she has a white-ish turd (for lack of a better term) hanging out. Looks kinda like a sausage casing for example.

Ideas? have been keeping a close eye on her. No fin damage or signs of abuse from tankmates either.

The last thing I saw her eat was pellet food, and a small earthworm, and maybe some krill. Could that have bound her up inside or something?

let me know what you think...

Thanks

how is she acting, (gasping for breath etc?)
this will help.

Ya, I am curious. One of my cons has the same sypmtoms. I hope your Sal is ok.

Breathing normally and doesn't look distressed, but is moving around the tank better in the last day or so. Still a little bloated and dorsal is always up, but has more color than when I last posted. Looks to be acting confident but something's outta whack

Did not see her eat last night, and have been trying to leave the lights off for her.

She grabbed that little worm and it was as long as her body. She choked it down anyway though. Could she still be digesting that?

Would pic's help? I can try to get a few tonight. Still no fin or body damage to speak of, just acting like she's out of it

It's been a week today since a water change. so I will change it tonight

Suggestions?

Breathing normally signifies that the fish is suffering from constipation, keep a lot of veges in their diet to avoid this. If it was bloat the condition of fish would have worsened, with rapid breathing, stomach swells up more and more as time passes, and fish will die between 24-72 hours of bloat. My Gold saum was affected by bloat, by the time I got to the conclusion that it was bloat, the fish had entered into the secondary stage of bloat(4 days had passed), then in this stage its an impossible task to get a fish back and if the fish dies in the same tank then the bloat can claim more lives, so I eased it for the GS and killed it, by transfering it into low oxygen water(they require more O2 for respiration while suffering from diseases), and it was dead in a matter of seconds.:(

White poo is not very good at all. What other symptoms and I give you a specific disease or something.

Cross: what would the white "poo" indicate? Doesn't look like poo, but rather an empty casing typ of thing. Every time I see it, it looks like the white sausage casing you see at the supermarket. Don't think its a worm or anything either. How should I treat it? I have never medicated these fish before and that is new to me.

She's moving around the tank more now, but still puffy looking, and still has the white stuff hanging out. Took a couple videos last night and will try to post em after work today

Thanks for the help folks

Stay tuned....

Sorry for the wait.

She's still puffy looking and it's been 4-5 days now. spoke with a guy at a LFS and he gave me some "Pro Salt Pro Green" contains "fish, shrimp, clams, Greenalgae and spirulina algae." He said it's a good veggie food for them.

Anyone ever used it? recommend any other type? every few weeks i put zuccini in there for the pleco's but dont notice the cichlids eating it. so, if she's constipated then how often should it last until she's in trouble/ or is she already at risk?

Don't wana lose her :nilly:

should be able to see the white stuff hanging out in these

found her swimming in random circles through the tank last night. I think the other cichlids could sense she was weak or sick cause they started nailing her if she got close to them. Scooped her out and put her down.
this is the 2nd one I've lost in the last year. WTF! :irked:
