Noice! Whenever I get the time to go netting in the grass flats, I get a lot of oyster/leopard toadfish. I like to scare kids saying they're venomous(somewhat true).

Toad fish, Lion fish, Stone fish all common names for the same fish. I think they are more brackish than straight fresh but I could be mistaken.

Toadfish, lionfish, stonefish are all taxonomically different fish.
Toadfish are related to anglers and cods.
Lionfish and stonefish are related to scorpionfish and sculpins.

The freshwater "lionfish" is a toadfish, but is called a lionfish imo because of how the fish's cirri look as if it's a lion's mane.

I was referring to the fish the OP has Batrachomoeus trispinosus, not the saltwater fish. It goes by all three common names.

When I moved it to another tank in made a loud noise down at the bottom of the tank! Swimming back and forth roaring. Was loud and kinda funny. Almost like a catfish out of the water but he was in.
