Nice setup for Rex. Looks like he's ready for the larger version. Any plans in the making? I'd love to have a giant edition of your corner tank!

Im on the lookout for a bigger tank currently, he seems to take growth spurs in the spring/summer so this summer ill find something nice. I've had him for 8 years now in a 54 liters, 180, 250 all rectangular. This 278 is my first corner shaped, but i'd highly reccomend it since he gets alot more moveabilety and it showcases him alot better in my humble opinion :)

Experimented with basking area on top (was never used BTW)

The corner again with bagground (was removed cause it took up abit to much space, the moduls are definently going in next upgrade, i've got 5 of them so plenty of possibiletys there

But next time im thinking around 6-700 liters wich will be his second last upgrade endning on a 1200-1500 depending on how big he gets :)

Cool! I agree, that corner tank does seem to give more usable space.
As for basking out of the water I'm pretty sure that won't happen. But I have found juveniles basking 'basking' on shallow perches just under the water's surface. They seemed to be both feeding/luring and then picking up UV rays from the sun.
Although I've searched for alligator snappers at all hours of the day (and night) I pretty much have only found them doing this sub-surface basking in the afternoons. Otherwise, the little ones are at or near the surface, but are much more concealed.
These are all in situ photos...
