Just read a article written by William heijns about istlanus, dna test have shown that it is a hybrid of amphilophus trimac and mayaheros beani,
Has anyone else heard about this?

A hybrid or somewhere in the middle of the gene trick. Looks wish I have no idea how they could be an inbetween, I mean I never seen one with a flowerline which they would get sometimes from trimac. I'm very doubting this

Yes the piece I read was on William's heroine cichlid group page, only joined it yesterday so I haven't had time to see if he has a full write up on this subject, the piece I read didn't say where he got his information from that's why I asked on here if anyone had heard of this.
