Got given a bag of medium breed puppy dog food with lots of added nutrients etc. I remember people saying they feed their catfish with it.
Can I feed this to my fish? I have a lot of bichirs, an Achara catfish, snakehead and a clown knife

i wouldnt do it personaly. mabey a 5 year old redtail could eat some dogfood but prolly nothing in your tank.

still i do not suggest this.

well its a 225g and I have a very hungry giant gourami that eats ANYTHING so I just thought it would be a good use for it

I wouldn't even feed dog food to my dogs. That stuff is bad for them. I feed my dogs raw meat. As for fish I feed them CB feeders(wild fish don't eat pellets in the wild, they eat other fish). Wouldn't recommend the dog food to fish.

What brand is it? Trouble is even we dog owners have been debating the ingredients with some causing side effects on the liver and kidneys of our dogs later on. If this contains ethoxyquin, please dump the idea of feeding your fish with it.

Not all kibbles are bad but I do agree with your general view since majority of them are sold at low price due to use of grains as fillers which is not highly digestible to dogs. The premium brands with less or no grain contents are expensive but much better. Raw feeding is still the best I quite agree.

I would try with a small quantity first. If nothing bad happens then I will use it all up in separate occasions before finishing all the contents. I still doubt the mammalian component of that food which I would refrain from. I personally would not do it. I envy your GG, mine is a freak of its kind. An extremely picky eater.

No. Check the ingredients first. The side effects will not happen in a short time so do not risk your fish while you are ahead.
