I know this sounds crazy but I haven't committed to it yet, I am honestly just curious if it would work. I bought the wrong food for my dog the other day and my kids opened it so it wasn't returnable. The thought of feeding it to the fish crossed my mind just because it was a pellet shaped food. I saved it in a container instead of throwing it out just to get some feedback from some members about what they thought. I'm not worried about chucking it, I will definitely do so if it is dangerous, but if it did work it would be a super cheap alternative to cichlid pellets. I included a shot of the ingredients in case any resident scientist can say whether any of them would be harmful for cichlids, or what they may need in addition to what's included. Like I said I'm just spitballing here, any info would be appreciated.

i personaly wounds ever feed anything but cichlid pellets to my fish but i've seen people of fish farms feed dog food to channel cats before, you should list the ingredient just to compare them to something like nls or hikary

I wouldn't feed it, and I wouldn't throw it out just donate the food to a local animal shelter. Dog food probably isn't good for fish, both have different dietary needs

Dog turds are shaped like Tootsie Rolls...that doesn't mean a human should eat it!!!;)
LMAO!.....But yeah, just as someone suggested earlier, drop the dog chow off at your nearest animal shelter.

I know of someone who has raised a 1" Tilapia in a 65 gal tank on nothing but dog food. That fish is about 12" now. I don't know why he does it, I have tried to get him to feed fish food, but his fish is large and healthy.

Thank you for the wonderful analogy, it is just like a poop/tootsie roll. You have a gift with words. Besides the food Ill have to make sure not to let my curiousity get the best of me at the dog park. Donating to a shelter is a good idea though, do you think they would care that it has been opened?

They might raise an eyebrow but hey, they would be getting it for an awesome discount.
