Fish can recognize human faces

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine act different to me vs. others.
The same with my fish. My fish look at me and "beg" for food like a dog. They also do this with family members, but they dive down to the bottom of the pond when they see anyone unfamiliar. We have some neighbors that have these kids who are just jerks. They have a treehouse that they get up on and throw rocks over the fence into my pond.

Most of my fish react the same to all humans, but my sunfish, ram, leaffish, and bettas can definitely tell the difference. What's more, one of them -my warmouth- appears to understand that if I put a mask on while standing in front of the tank, I haven't suddenly vanished or turned into something else.

Ask any medium or large sized puffer keeper and they will tell you their fish recognized them...

My old fahaka would dart from one end of the tank to the other every time i came home...

She would also start blowing on the front panel when i would look over and she was hungry.... But if anyone else was near the tank, she might check them out for a few sec but soon after retreat to her cave coz she wasnt interested...
