Best deals i ever got was 110 gallon for $20, a 135 gallon complete w/ stand $200, my most recent 200gal tank only for $100. You can find good deals out there but all tanks i bought i got to inspect in person before paying. To my suprise none of them needed repair.

I have a hard time buying new as well. Fish keeping is a novelty to most. Or it's the first thing to go when one falls on bad times. I've never got the bang for. Buck new that I get for used. 2 of my best purchases thus far ... a 100gl. Bamboo tank for $200. And a 200 gl. Minnow tank for $100. Will post pics later.

I have been having a lot of issues buying a bigger tank. Cannot find a suitable used one, bought 2 brand new ones I had to return due to a manufacturer's defect and had 2 bogus water heater. Decent tanks require more money than I have and I need a longer tank. Do not need a tall tank.........It seems most companies make them too tall. Considering a stock tank because they are big and cheap...

The stock tanks are made by rubbermaid and come in a 50 gallon, a 150 and a 300. Seem to range about $100 - $300 . I just wish they were not black. I like the glass aquariums because I can watch my fish interract and would miss that but they are too expensive. The tank I would like custom made quoted at about $3000. I do not have a high paying job and the tank I have now cost me about 2/3rds of a paycheck.
