Good Luck...I gave up Cichlids about 16 years ago and haven't regretted it although I still like them by seeing them. They were just too much trouble keeping them.

I will keep cichlids again...the more aggressive ones I mean; just not in the immediate future lol.

So some developments on this...I decided against the moler clay, which I'll probably regret shortly lol; and purchased some Nordic gravel instead. I also have an idea for the bottles in the pic below, can anyone guess what for? ;)

Are you going to use the bottles to keep your gravel in place?o_O

I think you should leave some wood exposed for the cardinals. My tetras like to group amongst the manzanita branches in my 450, it looks very cool and natural and I think it makes them feel safe and secure:)

Bingo.

Eager to keep the banked slope, so this should hopefully help. Picked it up from a forum, we'll see if it works :)

Good shout on the wood, I don't want to totally cover it in greenery, hopefully just some Anubias mini Nana, perhaps a bit of moss in places, so that the profile of the wood isn't lost.
