Identify please

Hello, I recently picked up a small pike cichlid but I’m curious as to what kind of pike cichlid he actually is. Any input would be appreciated thank you

Not a great pic and it seems super stressed but I'm guessing regani with the spot. They are awesome if that's what it is.

I had to move him to s smaller tank with some other smaller fish so he still adjusting to his new tank. The regani are a smaller species right?

Yes, regani stay small 3-4". It could be a belly crawler. It is small and stressed so hard to say. If it is regani the ventral portion will be a smoother gray and the bars will only be on the dorsal portion of the fish once it settles in. With the spot on the operculum, you might be right. It also looks a little heavier bodied then regani. The more I look at it your probably right. At the very least I am more convince I was wrong. Regardless you are in for a good time with that fish.

It is a female belly crawler.
