Luxurious 8' Reticulated Python enclosure

I'm building a cage with the exact same dimensions for my retic! I have a question about your heat source. Do you just place it on the floor of the cage or do you put a thin sheet of acrylic over it to prevent the moisture from causing damage to it? Heating is all I have left to do on mine. I just can't decide on how I want to do it.

I don't have any source of heat on the floor. I use a 160 watt radiant heat panel attached to the roof.
