Ok listing more info on the "pet" gars than the lab gars as a lot of that research is still ongoing (so those details will be minimal).

2x yearling spotted gars (one is a short-body individual; other in training for non-live food and will be added to larger tank).

120g wide (aka "gar-den") :

alligator gar

270g (aka "gar-den II") :

4x tropical gar
2x Cuban gar
crocodile gar "type II" (A. spatula x L. oculatus)

~39 x spotted gar (yearlings)
~6 x spotted gar (YOY)
2x Florida gars (YOY, 2 localities)
"shortnose" gar


ages of fishes run from YOY to 6 years for verified ages, large Cuban gars are at least 7 years old.

will try to get some full-tank shots up in the near future, for now, here is a shot of the lab with the YOY spotted gar experiment from last year:
