the stock tank will work until they start reaching full size, what size are the cichla you will be receiving, my rule of thumb is if they are less than 6in its gonna be about 18 months till they start to develop into adults, you would probably want to look at a tank thats 2-3x bigger than the stock tank
But is wayyy bigger in person

It's 69 x 63 inches and holds 300 gallons.

In person...no matter how huge it seems sitting there empty...it's still 69 x 63 inches and still holds 300 gallons.

If you call it a pond...it somehow still manages to be 69 x 63 inches and miraculously still holds 300 gallons.

No, an 8 x 3 foot tank holding 360 gallons is not 3x or even 2x bigger than this stock tank.

So, how many 20-inch peacocks and 14-inch oscars you want to try to shoehorn into that is the first question. Second question is how much work changing water are you willing to commit to on a permanent and consistent basis. Hint: it had better be a lot.

Go for a 8 x 3 x 2, the bass would appreciate the length of the tank more than a rounder “pond”.
IMO, 360g is enough for 2 Oscars and 3 pbass (kelberi/ mono) as long as you keep up waterchange of 50-70% weekly. Adding decor such as wood, rocks, sand and plants would liven up your tank as well.
