Those are nice. That male is a beast. Did you get these from a shop or what breeder? My male was the most aggressive fish I've owned lb for lb. Slow growers but well worth the effort
Thanks.. got lucky and picked them up from my LFS....and yes my male almost killed this female in a 75 gallon and makes it rough in a 150....they don't behave like a bonded pair, but do have free swimming fry as of late sat night....

Fry numbers have dwindled down to only about15 or so....this first spawn seems to be like a practice run for them to develop their parental abilities....on a positive note they are coexisting with minor aggression...

a couple of pics from last year and the latest....the first 9/7/14 when the male was sick and became emaciated...I was lucky and happy to say the least that he recovered and got his weight back up, what I found interesting was that it was a year later to the day that he spawned for the first time...next pic was as he looked 9/26/14 and the middle pic I took yesterday....right now I only have about 3 fry wandering around....would have pulled fry already when I saw the numbers getting low if I had somewhere to put them...the two are coexisting very well at this time and beg for food 24/ 7.....getting ready for the next round......

Latest pics..... the pair have not spawned again yet,but the females is getting very plump and looks like she could lay eggs soon..There are two surviving fry which are now about 5 weeks old, even being the only two they actually hover near the glass when I come near having learned where the food comes from already...

Latest...i moved the two fry a couple of days after the previous pics when I was able to make roomi n a twenty gallon iI have...a few days later could only find 1...Couple days later couldn't find the other....Thinking that they somehow died and/ or got sucked in the filter or something , i ended up utilizing my the twenty gallon tank again for a fish that got battered in a 75 gallon I have..(.had a busy work week was not able tend my tanks as usual.)..after moving the other fish in ,?saw that I still have that fry...decisions ..decisions....at any rate pics of the male....
