Hi, Everyone! I was just gifted with a 2 1/2 inch long red eared slider turtle. He came complete with a 20 gallon tank, filter, heater, UVB lamp, day lamp, night lamp, and bag of Saki-Hikari Turtle probiotic enhanced food. I know I need to get him a larger tank (I know he's too small for sexing, but I named him Gamera, so...)
I am looking for any and all advice I can get. He swims up to my hand for feeding but otherwise tries to get away from me when I go near the tank. I am constantly catching him swimming hard against the side of the tank or (yesterday) lodging himself under the heater. What do I do to make sure he is healthy and happy?
For some reference, I live in a hotel (I work here and it's required I live here), so I have very limited space. I want to make sure Gamera is happy, healthy, and lives as long as possible. He was apparently bought in Cherokee, NC when he was only 1 inch long, and I know absolutely nothing else except the other turtle he was purchased with died.
