Just wondering: I've got a solo dat in my 220 gal tank. With other fish, obviously, just the only dat.

Would adding a second dat be of any benefit, or would it be more of a risk?

I know it might sound crazy, but has anyone ever observed them pairing up?

Thx

If the 2nd dat is of significant smaller size, the dats will just ignore each other. But yeah 1 or 3+, and no never heard of them pairing up.

Dats are not exactly communal fish in the wild so keeping one dat is fine. Most people who keep two dats experience fighting between them at some point or another.

Go with one or four for the best outcome. Just having two or three will still be fighting. I still like having one per tank for better results.

I have had multiple dats in a tank some fight, some doesnt. I dont think has how many dats you have, its up to the actual fish itself. Right now I have 5 dats peacfully together. But anything can happen. You have awesome dats, keep him solo is better.
