The bottom of my 125 cracked when moving it. I was wondering if it is possible to replace the bottom with plywood instead of glass? If so how thick does it need to be? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
my plywood aquarium uses 1" oak plywood, it seems to do the job. I would highly recommend using pond armor to seal it since silicone sticks to it really well. But those two things along would cost you more than a new piece of glass (I would think). I ended up spending $160 for a 1/2" plate glass 6' x 2' cut to size.
being a 120, I would just dump the tank, better off getting used tank off craigs list even if it needs resealing. I just grabbed and resealed a 90g 20 bucks. just my opinion, GL
you could use that plywood as long as it's thick enough, but you'll still need to seal it properly.
pops - You're lucky that there is an availability of used tanks. where I live there aren't any, so you end up buying new or paying near retail for a used one.
