Ive been trying to get some cherry shrimp for ages and finally scored 4 of them. I have them in a counter top tank in my kitchen with only natural light and no heater (house stays at about 68). It is set up with a fluval 20 filter and a medium sized piece of driftwood with a healthy piece of anubias.

My questions are ....

with these shrimp breed and how long would it take?

Should I add a heater?

Is there an ideal pH for breading?

As long as you have at least one female and one male you should see some youngsters. I would definitely add a heater if you are wanting to breed them make sure your filter is shrimp friendly, sponge filters work well as you can imagine most HOB filter would devour most juvenile shrimp. My shrimp colonies drop about once a month. You'll see females carrying eggs under her tail and females are usually larger.

Now are as far as breading, pH doesn't matter; I like my breading crispy.

you never mentioned how big the tank is, but in order to help raise the chances of the juvenile shrimp surviving, i would add some moss into the tank as well...
