In the planning stage yet have a mountain of 2x4 and 2x6s haven't decided which I will use. Tank dimensions will be 84"l x48"w x 24"h. The piece of glass I plan to use is out of a 125 gallon it's tempered and 72"x23"x3/8 thick. Will this hold? Also I was looking at a pond liner from amazon a total pond epdm 40 mil for $115. Any recommendations regarding the liner? I will post pics of the plans once I have them finalized. It's gonna be a slow build.

rough sketch of stand measuring 87 x 51 x 32
top is skeleton bottom is cut out pieces

tank design gonna offset glass and put overflow on larger side shown in lowest drawing as well as liner route
top pic is of back of shell thinking about running braces on top of bottom plywood for extra window support
Then front drawing I will use a router to set the glass in a 1/2" then 3/8 deep
Next pic is of 1x1 plywood supports the one on the short side of the glass will be a 2 x 1 actual to overlap the window not sure if the one on the bottom of the glass will be a different dimension to overlap glass
This is for 2x4 except the braces probably go 2x6 sorry about the squiggly lines it was faster than Autocad

I've read good things about the epdm liners which are available even thicker than 40 mil. Most have 20 year warranties and can withstand uv damage from the sun.

I think 3m makes a butyl rubber marine adhesive that's inert and will stick to rubber and glass.

I've been doing a lot of research on pondliner ply tanks. I was going to settle on a 180g glass for the basement of my house, but after reading some threads about ply tanks with pond liners I think this is the better option for me

I'll def be following along

So I finished planning but I'm gonna go 2x6 as I have a lot more. These are the plans I will be liquid nailing it together as well as screws. For the window I will use 3m 5200 it's $11 a tube probably what your talking about also on the larger offset side will be the overflow. Haven't decided on the sump was gonna use a 90 gallon but its 30" tall. I could either build one in the stand between the legs or find something that fits. I will probably go with the amazon.com pond liner it's free shipping locally it would be about $150 for 10' x 15'.
The actual tank inside will be 82.5"l x 48"w x25.5"h roughly 437 gallons. Stand is 87" x 51" x 32".
Does anyone know which plywood is the best choice?
I priced some around the area 48" x 96" x 3/4"
birch is $16 sheathing $28 osb $16 others are like $40+

So I cut apart the 125. Getting the plastic molding off was the worst part. Cleaned up the glass with acetone and a razor blade.

Built the legs of the stand and all sides of the tank except the window.
Changed plans on the window i will just skip the router and place the window sorta flush with some 15/32" plywood. Should sit about right with the liner and the caulk.
Ordered 4 tubes from lowes with 20%off and free shipping over $50 would have cost a tube in shipping. One was blown when I got it sent it back for a new one and they sent 2! Ordered the pond liner from amazon was $92 with free 2 day shipping.

BCFir is your best choice for plywood.
