Was wondering if anyone knows if a saddleback bichir molts. I found a molted head in my 180 tank, which I'm assuming it's from my saddleback. It's housed along with 2 Senegals and 2 ropefish. Attached are photos of it. Feels hard when using my long tweezers to pull it out of the water

No fish molts, that’s the *head* of one of your fish. One of your fish has died and that’s what remains. Looks like a pleco based off of the mouth however.

Ya know...now that I'm looking for my other pleco, it's no where to be found. We put 2 plecos in the tank after cycling for a month to clean up the brown algae before adding the bichirs and ropefish. Great catch. Thank you

Welcome to the forum!
Like said - no fish molts. As noted, that’s the head. Keep an eye on the other pleco as it may not be long until it meets a similar fate.

Oof, thats a pretty grisly sight to behold in the morning, lol. Sorry about the loss. Like everyone else has said, no fish molts.
