I recently bought this super healthy ray that looks identical to this one,

http://www.segrestfarms.com/index.c...ystrix-Stingray-Reg&Potamotrygon-hystrix.html

I knew it wouldn't be a hystrix when the LFS told me he had a hystrix coming in but I can't figure out what it is. My closest guess is a P. orbignyi but almost none of them look like my ray.

The weird thing is seagrest has true hystrix on their website as well though,

So what do I have? It has a smooth tan back with no markings the around it's disc it has small circles just like in the first link. He's currently about 6in across and already eating out of my hand after two days.

I have a picture attached of him at the LFS.

Retics don't have vertical bars on their tails. Orbignyi exceed 15" in diameter, especially females. Your male may get bigger than 15". Time will tell.
Use caution when hand feeding. Rays can spook easy and tag you quicker than you can get your hand out of the way. He doesn't like your camera in the tank.
