I'm new here, and I'm not sure if there already is a similar topic, but I'm sure everyone has heard some misinformation at pet stores or whatnot. Share them here!

Someone I know once said that bettas can live indefinitely in those small cups they come in and that they don't need a heater.

Howdy, and welcome to MFK.

While this might be entertaining, why don't you share good advice and turn your first thread into a productive and helpful contribution to the hobby?

What do you wish you had been told by fish store staff instead of nonsense?

Would be nice for these sellers to provide some accuracy on fish sizes other than "the pacu will max out at about 5" and will do well in that 10 gallon". Granted, telling a noob customer that that baby pacu will reach and pass the 50 pound mark will likely kill the sale.

Inch per gallon is useless. Stocking should be based on waterchanging, feeding, aeration, filtration and tank footprint
