A couple years back I decided to devote a good portion of my fishroom to some of my all time favorite species. One of them was the Trimac. I started off with about thirty juveniles and have since paired it down to 14 fish. three breeding pair and various "spares". I used different configurations: One male and one female in a divided tank. Two males and three females in a tank. One male and one female in a divided tank with access. And the rest as a group...just growing out.

Here's one or the pair. Hey are in a 300 gallon tank. Lots of room to grow.

DBLN8: Your is deserving of a cover photo. The cranium and body structure is the real deal.

I almost didn't look at this thread. I've had bad luck with this species. First one died of some kinda fungus/infection.

New one I have now got beat up in a bigger tank. Now he's healed up, but his color's all drab and washed out.

I'm wondering if Trimac's prefer subdued lighting maybe?

I'd like to get mine looking like these! Awesome fish guys.
