TSN?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
would a TSN do alright in a tank that is 90"L x 32"W ?

1-2yrs it would be o.k. .... as for any tank mates once its 24" in that box... not certain ;)... ime there not gonna hit 30" in a small tank but a good situation for one would be a pond/pool 8-10' minium diamater. or a tank around 1k gallons....for starters.

What would be a good basic footprint for one of the smaller TSN species? 8x4 or so?

8x4 is o.k. just the same really for one specimen, have i kept 6-10 in that footprint before, sure have lol... ... i never grew a tsn larger than 24-26" in my 9x4 tho.... once they were placed in a larger enviornment some shot up to 30-34" almost immediatly... others are still around 20-24"... slowest growing species/subspecies ive witnessed is a p. tigrinum. ive had him about 7 yrs now from 8" and hes still 24" at best... impossible to i.d. when small and i havent seen another one pop up in all that time. after yrs of my own "experimentation" its fairly easy to grow a monster type cat to 18-24" in the first year...in a big tank. theyll grow much slower if u keep them in "growouts".... i typically keeps my cats in their tanks until they reach nose/tail on the width of the tank then i bump em up into something larger... with an 8x4 id still recommend a smaller type cat reported to reach 30" max like a tig/jurnese as they can live in that footprint for life if u dont plan 2 upgrade down the road... dont get me wrong, i grew up in the days of monster cats in 180's being o.k. but when u see it in person u know its not right lol...

Thanks for the feedback. I really want a smaller tsn species to swim along side of a juruense when I eventually get a big tank up again, but I just don't really think I can convince myself to do it. The biggest I'm probably ever gonna have is a 8x4, and I really don't want something that's borderline too big for that.
