As for the driftwood, it was so large I could not boil. It was releasing tannins and it was hard to keep the water clear. There is also a lot of water movement in the tank, 1200gph through the sump and 2 Koralia 4's 1200gph each for a total of 3600 gph. This water movement caused the wood to deteriorate, I had to clean the pre-filter on the sump every other day due to the wood. After I switched to setup #5 I traded in the driftwood and picked up a10" Jaguar.
The fish seem to like the current setup the most, it allows for more individual territories. The school of red hooks kept running into the driftwood and getting beat up, they are looking much better again.
