Hey there!
Next week I´m buying a Mastacembelus tinwini (I´m so damn happy to be able to get this rare eel) for my 120gal tank.
Along with the rare eel the shop was able to import more rare fish.
So they´re offering leucistic ghost knifes for 10 Euro (~11 Dollars) per fish (about 8cm in lenght so they aren´t even that small).
In my 120gal tank I´m keeping 2 pairs of Geophagus Tapajos Red Head (for sale), 2 male ´Geophagus´pellegrini (for sale), 3 Metynnis altidorsalis, 3 Pimelodus pictus (for sale) and a Cochliodon basilisko.
In one of the growout tanks I´ve got 3 Polypterus delhezi and a Senegalus which are supposed to move into the 120gal when they reach about 20cm in lenght.
If everything´s going as planned and I´m able to find someone who´s interested in the Geophagus and Pimelodus, the stock would look like this:
-3 Metynnis altidorsalis
-3 Polypterus delhezi
-1 Polypterus senegalus
-1 Cochliodon basilisko
-1 Mastacembelus tinwini
Those aren´t many fish but the Polypterus and the Mastacembelus will all reach about 30cm and more, so I don´t really want to keep smaller fish which would distract the viewers attention from my "little predators".
(I´ve got 10 more tanks stocked with other fish so I want the 120gal to be special
)
Right now I´m keeping wild caught Apteronotus leptorhynchus (20cm) with Pterophyllum in a 80gal tank.
(I planned to keep those knifes with the Polypterus but they´re doing great in a tank with Pterophyllum as tankmates so I´ll leave them in there)
So I´d say I know how to keep Apteronotus.
I know white ghost knifes are rare.
And I really love albino/leucistic fish.
But I´m not sure if it´s a good Idea to keep A.albifrons together with the species which are already living in the 120gal (or a growout).
I´m not even sure if the tank is big enough (dimensions : 150cm x 50cm x60cm/ 5ft x 1,6ft x 2ft) but I guess it wouldn´t be that hard to sell a white ghost knife if it´s getting to big.
The picture´s showing the tank a few weeks ago.
Right now the structures are looking different I´ll add another picture tomorrow!
