My paratilapia and my firemouth cichlid both have what almost looks like a couple white zits along their sides they arent cottony like a fungus from what i can tell but they apear to be spreading, last week i noticed one of my rainbowfish also had it on its lip, this one has since gotten much worse. I have the cichlids in a quarantine tank and am currently treating them with salt at 3tsp. Per 10 gallons. It doesn't seem to be getting worse but its also not getting any better, im currently at an impass and figuered i would ask around before medicating with somthing serious.

Stats:
Ph7.6
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
Established tank of 6 years.

It was hard but I got a pic of the rainbowfish who has the worst of it.

If the fish are in a hospital tank try API Triple sulfa & Malachite Green. Does the MG at half strength use a full dose of Triple sulfa. The salt can stay. Do a 50% water change before treatment and make sure to wait at least a half hour after using and water conditioner like Prime, Safe etc.

I'm thinking mouth rot. If the 3X & MG doesn't work then some real antibiotics can be tried. If its viral nothing will. Without pathology we only have a picture to work with.

Ok i added the triple sulfa and malachite green at a half dose after doing a water change, also added a bit more salt. Why only a half dose of the malachite green?
Thanks btw

MG is hard on the fish, best to use as little as possible while still getting the benefits of it.

Ok thats kinda what i figured, thats why i try to stay away from meds as much as possible but this one is just not responding. I will keep you all updated as things progress. Thanks.

It does look a bit like mouth fungus(columnaris) but the size of the growth makes me think it could be a viral infection like lymphocytis and not always fatal and can recess on its own.
