Where in Scotland are you. I am down in the Borders ive been keeping rays for along time now keep a eye out because the are tons of time wasters. Don't mean to put you off lol. As long as you get a look at the ray first. As everone is saying long as its eating should be fine.

I'm about 30 mins from Glasgow, I'm paying cash on collection so if I'm not happy with the condition of the ray I'll tell him I'll come back for it when it's fattened up. Tank is 7Lx2.5Wx2H so will hopefully last for a bit before needing an upgrade.

Yea that size tank should be ok for a while. Males as a rule are smaller than females. Is it a fish shop or a importer your getting it from. Fish keeper edinburgh had cuple motoros a wee while back and where looking for £120 each. In my opinion going rate is around 100 when there small. its when you've got a 20in motoro for sale next one can house it. Its a bit like a silver arowana you see people given them away because there massive.

my first motoro was one i caught myself, took 2 months before it accepted ghost shrimps and another 1 month before it took hikari sinking pellets. it was a nerve wrecking 2 months i assure u :\
