For a typical freshwater tank, the recommendation is one Tablespoon per 5 gallons. So for a 240 gallon, that would be 48 tablespoons. A lot of salt. Don't spend the money on "aquarium salt". Use Morton Kosher Salt or Morton Canning and Pickling salt. Or, if you have the room to store it, Morton Solar Salt in 40 lb bags at Lowe's is the most economic way to go ($5.48 per bag).

Edit: When dealing with that much salt, it would be better to go by weight than measuring volume. Google says a tablespoon of salt weighs 17g, so for 240 gallons, that would be 816gms of salt.

If that seems like a lot, just consider a saltwater tank requires roughly 150g per gallon....
