my new 3" albino bicher keeps on burrying itself in the substrate. anything i should do?

some bichirs do that. the only time mine do it is during water change when they get freaked out. others have bichirs do this under normal condition and suspect it might be a hunting technique or something. it seems this is more common with certain species than others, and i don't recall hearing senegal doing this, but it surely could. with that said, how's your bichir acting? healthy? how often is it burrowing? how long have you had the bichir? any harassing tankmates?

I've had them do this when new to the tank.As long as its eating don't worry too much about it -Anne

well it was'nt exactly burrowing. the 8" dojo loach had med an empression in the gravel and it led to the underside of a rock. geuss the bicher was just hollowing it out. its muych more active now.

are there any distinctives to tell what type of albino it is?

I have never had my birchir bury itself and I have sand.

It an albino Polypterus senegalus-Anne

Unless you paid a couple hundred dollars

they do that.... my gauchas do that also... none to worry
