Channa asiatica

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How many 5" kids can I get into a densely planted 3' X 1.5' tank?

I want them to pair up in this tank before shifting the pair into a 4' X 2' and then I will sell the rest.

How do you recognise it when they have paired up? Always swimming together? Typical fish stuff?

I would say you could fit 4 or 5 but make sure you have a lot of hiding spaces. Not to familiar with asiatica but i assume that when they've paired up they'll be together a lot. And will defend an area aggressively

Thanks. Will probably get 4 instead of 5 to play safe.

I have always assumed that once snakeheads formed a pair, they will be together for life.

You mean that is not the case for this species?

nope, i just meant you will see them swimming together a lot. Ive also heard when snakeheads pair up they do so for life

I got a video of my Channa asiatica eating a piece of prawn meat! :D

I'm so happy that it took to prawn meat within 5 minutes of it being introduced into its tank.

The food was actually meant for my albino senegalus and my ropefish which are all in the same tank with it.

And this Channa is wild caught, so I wasn't expecting it to be eating dead food at all. :headbang2

Here is a picture of it. Didn't want to switch on the lights so frighten it.
