I figure it might do me well to post my tank perimeters too...

Lets see, one second...
NitrAte -> 40 mg/L
NitrIte -> 10.0 mg/L
Hardness -> 75 GH
Alkalinity -> 40 KH
PH -> 6.8

its not uncommon for certain individuals to be more sensitive to water quality than others so they would have heavier breathing while the rest are totally fine.

but it could also be disease, i'd consider antibacterial meds or even antibiotics if its bacterial infection, or anti-parasite med in case its gill worms.

you need to figure out which scenario is more likely, disease or just the water.

I'm totally confused...according to water tests, my water is full of NitrItes no matter what I do, or what I put in the water, and my albino is not eating (hasn't eating for several days) and keeps up with the heavy breathing. I originally thought it was gill disease though.

Shane,

It's the water...I just realized that another one of my bichirs is doing it now too...

Shane,

nevermind, he was just very full of shrimp

hehe dont overfeed the other ones now =P. So your albino wont each anything? even his favorite usual food if its right in front of his face? Good luck with him man, hope he starts eatting again and stuff. If something happens, be sure to get back to us and update us.

Hehe, Yeah...they eat tons alright.
I really hope he starts eating too, and yes...I will absolutly let you know if anything good happens.

Shane,

Well,
I woke up this morning, and everything is still the same...from the water perimeters, to the albino himself. Laying there still acting lethargic. I hope he makes it. How long can a Poly go without food? He still refuses to eat anything.

Shane,

Do you have a 10 gallon tank you could move it to?

I had a similar problem when I switched two of my filters for bigger ones, I still had an established filter, but it wasnt enough and the ammonia and nitrites started to spike off he scale. I did 75-80% water changes every other day until it cleared up, it really worked well and now the whole tank is cycled and I only have to do them once a week. I hope this helps, you said you were doing 25% water changes, but if you having that big a problem you probablly need a lot more water changes

Well. I do have a 10 gallon thats fully cycled...but 2 problems, it belongs to my mother, and its stocked FULL of guppies and baby guppies. I'll be getting another filter for it soon, so it'll be able to do what it needs to.

I'll have to do more water changes too.

Thanks,
Shane
