gph for 55 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got two AC 70's on mine, one with standard media and carbon, one with a sponge and double dose of bio media.

if the holey rock will cost a fortune i want to go get some nice big pieces of driftwood at the local lake. i found 3 pieces and so far i have sprayed them down and baked them. i was thinking maybe i should soak them over and over again to keep it from staining my tank water brown and then baking again. i have a bathroom in my basement that i havent been using much so im gonna use it.

great plan:D

keep looking for the holey rock, you might be able to find a deal. I never looked really hard because I dont have a lot of cichlids.

I just buy presoaked wood. Heh.

Heh Heh.

If you would accept something other then Holey rock, check out some of the local landscape supplies rocks selections. I found a bunch of black granite that looks amazing for .18 a lb.....

I always like to say "The more the merrier" (GPH that is) You can never be overfiltered!
Right now on my 75g I have a eheim 2250 and a 2028 and a double stacked sponge w/ a powerhead and a penguin 330. Funny thing is that there are only two 3.5 inch thinbars in the tank! (this is only temporary of course) :)

My tank turns every 5 minutes. How often does yours turn? Every 5 seconds? Or do you just keep the fish in the filter? LOL

I've got my 55 cycling approx. once every 4 minutes... I have a Rena Filstar XP3 and an Emperor 400 running on it... currently the expansion baskets in the 400 are just carbon, but since i added a bag of carbon to my XP3, I'm going to fill both expansion baskets in my 400 with biological media... the XP3 already has half a liter of Matrix in it, (which is what I'll put in the Emperor) and the Emperor comes stock with 2 big ass bio wheels... so I think I should have adequate filtration to keep this tank nice and healthy. :-)

well on my 55g long in my sig

i have a ac70/whisper 20-40/and a 300gph canister on that

800gph total
